Three authors on text to speech technology

Kindle 2.0

Interesting article by Cory Doctorow about the new Kindle’s text-to-speech feature from the perspective of a successful author (who also distributes all of his works as Creative Commons licensed text and encourages readers to convert to additional formats).

A tweet from Wil Wheaton this morning states his agreement with a post by Neil Gaiman from a week or so ago that indicates he has similar thoughts on the matter.

It’s interesting when there’s a disconnect between a representative body and the people they’re representing. Different agendas I guess.

See for yourself – Wil has blogged an mp3 comparison of  him reading a story compared to a text to speech reading.
